May 13th, 2022

Dear students and partners,

We have an important announcement to make.

After much consideration, IIE Hawaii has decided to postpone the re-launch our Kid-STEP & Teen-STEP Summer program until summer 2023. It has become clear that covid is still not over yet, making conditions for our junior lessons & activities program insufficiently stable or safe this summer.

At this current time, the State of Hawaii (and the U.S. in general) are at the beginning of another covid wave that is expected to keep growing. Adding to this concern are the overall low vaccination rates for children in our main market countries, which would have an unhealthy impact on the safety of our junior programs, and create the potential for widespread covid exposure in the school.

Owing to the above realities, we have come to the difficult conclusion that it’s best this year to focus on meeting the huge demand for our adult programs, which are less challenging to safely manage than junior programs during covid conditions. We will restart our Kid-STEP and Teen-STEP Summer program in 2023, when we can be certain that covid is behind us, and that conditions are sufficiently stabilized. This will ensure that we can deliver a junior program that meets the standards of the highest safety and quality, in keeping with IIE Hawaii’s established international reputation.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this announcement may cause to those who had been planning to join Kid-STEP and Teen-STEP this summer. If you have enrolled students this summer, we encourage you to keep your enrollments and we will apply them to IIE’s 2023 Summer Kid-STEP and Teen-STEP.

We trust that you understand the reasons for this decision were based on safety of the learning environment, our greatest priority. We would like to thank our students and partners for your continued support of our programs, helping to make 2022 a year of tremendous growth, and establishing IIE as the leading school in Hawaii.

Please let us know if there are any questions or concerns.
