U.S. REQUIRES COVID TEST FROM JAN. 26!

January 12th, 2021

Important announcement: the U.S. will now require everyone coming from a foreign country to have a viral covid test within 3 days of departure to the U.S.  A negative test result, paper or electronic, or documentation of having recovered from covid-19, must be provided to the airline before boarding. The order goes into effect Jan 26, 2021.

At this time, the State of Hawaii already requires a separate negative covid test result from a “trusted testing partner” to bypass Hawaii’s 10 day quarantine. Hawaii’s “trusted testing partners” currently exist on the U.S. mainland, Japan and Canada. Students coming from Japan or Canada should be able to use the covid test from a “trusted testing partner” to meet the American federal government covid test requirement.

However, students coming from other countries will need to take a covid test before departing for the U.S. mainland, from where another test can be taken from one of Hawaii’s “trusted testing partner” if they wish to bypass Hawaii’s 10 day quarantine.
